A little bird told be that Ed did 16:19 at the Coventry Park Run. Let me be the first to congratulate Ed. (Through gritted teeth) If he carries on doing 300 miles a month he will be challenging Steve next month.

I love the "First Timer" with the 50 symbol next to him, I think they need a subtle change of wording  Smiley

Anyway fantastic run Ed, I'm going to tell Steve now, he's already worried about Sally in the Marathon  Smiley

Wendy has your laminated things we don't talk about in front of Jerome  Smiley

Let's check that Fetch Training League (attached)

We're also top of the Fetch 5K league without any time from Steve up there (gasp!)

Ed wondered whether it was 5k - He didn't have his Garmin.

That is a lot of mileage on the training league. Hope its not in vain as my London entry has gone AWOL apparently

If you sent it in by the mumble mumble of January then you'll be fine.

The Coventry course says measured with a measuring wheel so you'd hope it was reasonably good http://www.parkrun.org.uk/coventry/Course.aspx

Brilliant Ed. Thoroughly deserved given the focus and dedication you have shown for some time now. Hope it brings its reward at the London Marathon  Wink

Fetch thread here http://www.fetcheveryone.com/viewtopic.php?id=33520&page=6

The chap near the end of the page queries the course distance, Phil got within 30 metres using a measuring wheel to dead centre of the path originally so you'd hope it was as minor as that. I think Garmins are the bees' knees but if the course has any significant tree cover then you have to apply common sense to what they tell you.

Thanks but I'm not claiming this as a PB, I'm sure it must have been well short! They mentioned that they had changed the course from the one advertised. I'm in sub 17 shape but not 16:19 and I wasn't really running it flat out.

I know the feeling, when I won the Middlesbrough parkrun in 16:05 and appeared in Athletics Weekly I had to examine my conscience and reluctantly decided that I had to admit it was mistaken identity  Smiley

One of the organisers responded to my email query with:

"This route, the new route has been measured and came in at 5010m. It's been measured by measuring trundle wheel. We did have a few people mention that they felt it was short. So i'll be getting this re-measured as soon as possible"

I wonder if they took the extreme racing line then added the short course protection factor ?
